"Shorebirds are among my favorite subjects to sketch in the field, but since I live away from the coast, I  have limited opportunities to work with them.   Occasionally, however, wetlands in my area offer the right conditions for attracting them.  These sandpipers were painted at a nearby marsh  in August 2002."
