(Black-tailed Godwits)
oil-on-paper, 2007
17" x 22"

Last summer, I spent several days at Peter Scott's famous SLIMBRIDGE Wetland Centre in southern England.    Migrant flocks of Black-tailed Godwits were a prominent feature during my visit and I made many sketches of them as they preened, scratched and dozed.  The humid, overcast weather lent a soft, pearly quality to the light.

This painting was selected for the international exhibition  BIRDS IN ART 2008 at the Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin.
